Bringing Mental Wellness to the Community

Hi, my name is Maria Garcia. I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) therapist with a Master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Memphis.

I have seven years of experience working with diverse populations across the city of Memphis. As I worked alongside children, teens, adults, and couples, I have developed a strong foundation to support individuals and families facing various challenges. My trainings in TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy), and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) equip me with valuable tools to address trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, childhood trauma, stress management, marriage conflict, maternal mental health, and HIV-related mental health concerns.

As a bilingual therapist, my goal is to address cultural factors, language barriers, and the unique experiences of Hispanic individuals. I believe mental wellness is a right, not a privilege, and it is time communities across Tennessee are provided the tools they need to lead happy and fulfilling lives.

In my role as a therapist, it’s essential for me to find balance. Outside of my professional commitments, I cherish the moments I spend with my husband and children. Cooking serves as both a passion and a therapeutic outlet for me, while accompanying my children to their extracurricular activities allows me to connect with them and support their interests. Furthermore, traveling offers my family and me a chance to explore, learn, and create lasting memories together. Balancing personal life and self-care is essential, especially in a demanding profession like therapy.
